Heritage Advisor, 5 May 2014.
BListed - Local Signficance
The cottage at 105-205 Groves Road is aesthetically significant at a REGIONAL level. Although in poor condition, it demonstrates original design qualities of an early Victorian vernacular style. These qualities include the corrugated iron and gauge gable roof (with an early timber shingle roof underneath) and a front skillion verandah. Other intact qualities include the two unpainted hand-made brick chimneys, timber framed and paned windows, timber door, galvanised corrugated iron hipped roof extension, and the two front interior rooms consisting of coved, timber lined and stained ceilings. The cottage at 105-205 Groves Road is historically significant at a REGIONAL level. It is associated with and contributes to an understanding of the dairy farm and milk delivery service established by the Bogan family in the 19th century. The underground tank at 105-205 Groves Road is scientifically significant at a LOCAL level. It illustrates 19th century brick and cement tank construction, possibly based on J.C. Loudon's Encyclopedia of Farm, Cottage and Villa Architecture of 1831. Overall, the cottage and underground tank at 105-205 Groves Road is of REGIONAL significance.
