'Reedbeck Farm', comprising the farm building constructed c.1856, at 31-37 Halleur Road, Harkaway. How is it significant? 'Reedbeck Farm' is of local historic significance to the City of Casey. Why is it significant? Historically, 'Reedbeck Farm' is significant as a rare example of the farmhouses built by Harkaway's German settlers during the 1850s and 1860s. Harkaway was one of a number of German Lutheran farming settlements in colonial Victoria. The importance of the Reedbeck Farm building relates to its early date of construction (1856 or earlier) and further research and physical investigation is required to confirm this date. As the home of pioneer Carl Friedrich Tschentscher, it may be one of the oldest buildings in Harkaway.
