The Spotswood State Savings Bank (former) is of local historic and aesthetic significance to the City of Hobsons Bay. Why is it Significant? Historically, it is significant as an illustration of the significant development of the Spotswood area during the Interwar period. (AHC criterion A4) Socially, it is significant for its strong associations with the Spotswood community over a long period as the major bank in this local centre. (AHC criterion G1) Aesthetically, it is significant as a superior example of an Interwar twentieth century bank in the Greek Revival manner. Sited prominently at a corner, it is a local landmark.
