| B Listed - Regional Significance This house has regional historical significance for its association with the well known Windmill family of quarrymen and tanners. Listed for the first time in 1950 it was owned by John Windmill Jnr. and was located near the 19 acre quarry at the end of Noble Street occupied by the quarrying firm of J and W Windmill Bros. Josiah Windmill, an early Newtown tanner, lived at 245 Noble Street in his retirement. Earlier he occupied a wooden cottage, "Riverdale", near his tannery in Riversdale Road (q.v.). It has the local material on concrete blocks and as a characteristic intact house of the 1940's. It also is interesting for its refined detailing: particularly the window lintels.
